Kinetic and magnetic field workshop (May 25, 2020)

    Kinetic effects and magnetic fields remain a major challenge in the context of high-energy-density-physics in general and inertial confinement fusion in particular. They are difficult to model in simulation codes and many details are not fully understood.
   They can have deleterious effects on the target such as pre-heating, species separation or streaming instabilities. At the same time collimated plasma flows, strong currents and extreme magnetic may find new unexpected applications. A better understanding and new advanced simulation tools are a must in order to progress with research in this field.
   The purpose of the workshop is to assess the present status and to identify possible ways forward.
